Picture this:  You’re on the road and you pull into a RV site and hook-up your unit to power, sewer and water. When that’s done you go inside and make sure everything is working and then you feel like you are all set. Wrong. Back home in your house you likely either have/had municipal treated water or a water softener to keep the water heater, washing machine, dish washer, etc. in good working order.

I found out the hard way that untreated, hard water can cause problems in our RV. The washer dryer started to have issues with the soap dispenser which caused me to take the unit apart and clean out calcium build-up.  This was only after 3 months worth of use.  This wasn’t an easy task so I started looking for a solution to this issue.

It’s not cheap but I bought this “On The Go” unit for about $300.00. After a brief set-up, I noticed a huge difference when using any soap in the shower, washing dishes, and even the filtered water through our Britta unit. We could not get the shampoo out of our hair!  In the the long run, I believe it will save me considerable  repair costs down the road saving the washing machine, water heater, and plumbing fixtures.

I highly recommend getting one of these if you are a full time RV’er or spend any length of time in your rig.
